“Who wants to be Lulu?”

No, this is not the name of a new ITV quiz show. It is in fact the sound I can hear behind me as I type this. Well, no, now I can hear my uncle singing “Relight My Fire”, but you get what I mean.  Singstar informs him that he is “bad!”. Good to know. I, by the way, am the family champion with “Singstar Superstar”. But that’s not what I wanted to blog about.

Actually, I wanted to talk to you about a film that was on Nick yesterday. It was a Mary-Kate and Ashley fiasco, as they pitifully attempted to pretend they were enjoying a road trip.

It wasn’t even as good as Britney Spears driving around singing “I need time, love, joy, I need space, I need…mey”. (This does not count as a typo as that’s how she sings it.)

Anyway, I thought I would come on and ask you, if you were going on your ideal road trip…

  1. Where would you go?
  2. When would you go?
  3. Who would be the person going with you that is possibly or possibly not a murderer?

Also, if you had to do one of those things where you need a job so you work for the summer picking fruit, and then you like the farmer and fall in love with his son/daughter and it turns out that a local businessman wants to buy the orchard and it is an uplifting tale of community and hope in a small town…

…what fruit would you choose to pick?

Dreams

Now, I’m not usually a person who remembers their dreams in the morning. About once a fortnight I do, but usually I just wake up feeling like I’ve kind of been thinking. But I woke up this morning and could remember 4 dreams, so I’ll fill you in. If there’s stuff I don’t want you to know (names, etc.), then I’ll —— it out.

1. I was walking through a park with some pretty trees. There was a small girl, who I talked to. Then, I went into this big hall, and there was a meeting of people discussing how white people were all evil. And I said “no, they’re not” and then I got beaten up by some two year olds.

2. I was feeling ill, and I spoke to my mum, and she said “You’ve got ——- and ——- and a ———” and I was really upset. Then we went to the doctor, and he said he was going to give me that treatment where they shoot the really low noises at your body.

3. I was at school, and because it was winter, the daylight hours were really short so I was walking around in the dark. Then I turned around a corner and it was light and warm and summery, so I went to find my friends to tell them, but as I walked across the field, —— kicked a football at my head and I fell on the floor. So I went to reception, only it was no longer reception but some sort of counselling room. So I talked to the receptionist, and she sent me to the doctor, and he said he was going to give me that treatment where they shoot the really low noises at your body.

4. I got back from school late, and it was the prom that evening, and Rosie was there trying on dresses, because we didn’t have dresses yet and it started in half an hour. So I decided I’d wear that dress that I made in year 9, only it had turned into that dress that Rosie wore on Valentine’s Day at Becky’s. And then my hair was sticking out everywhere, but Xinmei wouldn’t help me fix it because she was doing her make up. And then we went to the prom in some kind of bright blue 4×4.

And I miss being younger, because I could wear lilac velvet trousers and a lime green velvet t-shirt and feel cool.

I always used to read teenagery books, and they sorted their lives out in the end, and I used to think, well, I’ve got time to sort stuff out because I’m not 13/14/15/16 yet. Only, soon I will be 16, and the books in which people are 17 and older they never really sort things out, it’s just all “meh.”

They’ve rearranged all the sections in Borders. Which is annoying, because the children’s books are on the other side of the teenagers books stand. How am I meant to concentrate when there are people squealing behind me? Also, I have perfected my route for just walking around, browsing and feeling happy and bookish. Now, I’ll have to make a new one. I think I possibly spend like an hour a week just browsing in there, which sounds like a phenomenal waste of time, but I love it because I like to go at 9 in the evening or whatever when it’s all empty and the music is nice.

La la la,

Sophie
